LASIK (Laser Assisted in-Situ Keratomuleusis) eye surgery is a procedure that reduces a person's dependency on glasses or contact lenses. It can be used to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. We provide professional pre-operative and post-operative care for people who choose this surgery.
Pre-operative consultation is an important pre-cursor to surgery. Your Doctor will:
The surgeon first uses an IntraLase (i.e. computer guided laser energy) to create a corneal flap. After the flap is created, it is folded back, and an excimer laser is used to remove some tissue from the newly exposed surface. The flap is put back in place, resulting in a reshaped cornea that produces better vision. Because the IntraLase procedure uses two different lasers, the term "bladeless" or "all-laser" LASIK is sometimes used.
Your first post operative visit will be scheduled for the day following surgery. To ensure the best possible results, additional post operative visits will be scheduled over the subsequent year.
